Bellsouth and the Challenges
Facing Education
As the public clamors for higher standards, easier access and equal opportunity, educators are seeking new ways to give students the knowledge they need to compete in today's world. It is a challenge for every level of education: K-12, college, public and private schools, home schoolers, community and trade schools.
The sheer volume of information students need today can't be contained on a blackboard and can barely fit in a library. Technology, however, has the capability to help move
education forward on every front. It makes remote areas equal to urban centers and puts impoverished regions on equal footing with prosperous areas. Courses over the Internet allow working people to advance or change their careers.
It is an innovative era in education. And as educators shape this new paradigm, it
becomes clear that the opportune time to offer the kind of education that creates a vibrant society is now.
