Implementing 9-1-1 Pinpoint Service
Putting 9-1-1 PinPoint service into operation allows you to identify the physical location for each telephone which matches its Automatic Number Identification.
Information sent to public safety providers can include:
- Name
- Street Number
- Street Name
- Location (floor, dorm, room, office suite)
- Community
- Other similar information, if needed
BellSouth will provide you with software for 9-1-1 PinPoint service, which runs on an IBM compatible PC. You can then input the necessary information into the database yourself or contract with an outside vendor to do so.
You will need to keep the database updated so that it remains accurate.
If you have an analog PBX, you may also need additional hardware.
