Applying ISDN To Your Business
Almost any type of business can benefit from the use of ISDN from
BellSouth. It's impossible to cover all the possible scenarios; but here
are a few examples of how ISDN can make businesses more efficient
and productive.
One line, multiple numbers: A group of physicians shares a receptionist and
a phone system. By using ISDN and Multiple Directory Numbers, a single
line can provide each physician with her or his own incoming number. The receptionist will know before answering which doctor the call is for, to
personalize the call and direct it properly.
Patients may also encounter fewer busy signals, since ISDN permits
multiple calls to be received over a single line.
Improved customer service: With ISDN's varied capabilities, customer service or sales personnel can handle calls more efficiently. A call to a salesperson, for instance, could automatically initiate the retrieval of a customer's records, using Caller ID.
More flexible videoconferencing: Videoconferencing has traditionally required dedicated high-speed lines to provide adequate bandwidth. But with ISDN, the same line used for voice calls can also be used for videoconferencing.
Extending your network: If your company has branch offices,
or workers in remote locations, ISDN can provide high-speed
connections to your network. The bandwidth is used only when needed, and is available for other applications the rest of
the time.
You could connect LANs across a campus, or across the country.
Saving telecommunications costs: Instead of using a fixed configuration of dedicated trunk lines for services like Direct Inward Dial and Direct Outward Dial, which may go underutilized during certain periods of the day, a Call Center can use ISDN and dynamic call allocation to use the same line(s) for multiple purposes.
