Beaufort County School - One Year Update

YEAR ONE ACCOMPLISHMENTS:

  • 124 families contacted through home visits and meetings at school.
  • Identified and liaisoned with 30 local agencies to assist in helping families in need.
  • Over 100 students in both schools received medical, dental, academic, and psychological/guidance assistance.

YEAR ONE LESSONS:

  • Go ahead and plan your program and include them where possible. Be proactive in your expectations from others you are attempting to liaison with on a daily basis. Take the lead.
  • Document all of your work, services, hours, and tasks immediately and in a manner which is easily retrievable, preferably computerized.
  • Involve your entire support team in the process. After we made a team site-visit to the Whiteford School in Atlanta everyone was re-energized. We found that having a working relationship with other sites like ours is extremely valuable.

YEAR TWO OUTCOMES/OBJECTIVES:

  • Continued work with families in need - home visits and meetings/sessions.
  • Connect families with health services and increase the amount children being served/screened.
  • Maintain the physical, emotional, and academic growth of the children served.
  • Establish a consistent communication and follow-up format with local agencies.
  • Assist with transportation for families.
  • Assist families in linking with local agencies and provide workshops at school for parents.
  • Implement computerized data collection program.
