YEAR ONE ACCOMPLISHMENTS:
- Developed vocational curriculum, recruited participants, implemented curriculum in food services, office skills, child care, housekeeping, employability and social skills
- 17 individuals achieved academic/vocational objectives
8 received on-the-job training 7 are in job placements or community work experience placements
- Positive feedback from participants, staff and community
YEAR ONE LESSONS:
- Philosophies of family literacy and welfare reform are very difficult to reconcile with each other
- Quality, comprehensive services for a limited number of participants are expensive to provide
- Interagency collaboration at federal and state level still does not translate very well into assistance at the local level
YEAR TWO OUTCOMES/OBJECTIVES:
- Modify curriculum and implementation schedule based on changing participant needs and recruit participants
- 50% who complete training will have jobs or community work experience
