AT&T Military Relations and
The PaYS Program

As part of an agreement between our company and the U.S. Army Recruiting Command, soldiers have the opportunity to gain job training and qualifications by participating in the Partnership for Youth Success Program.

Partnership for Youth Success is a strategic partnership program between the Army and a cross-section of U.S. industries. It was developed to help the Army attract, train and deploy talented people seeking careers in such areas as communications, sales, electronics and computer services, logistics and construction. "It helps business by guaranteeing participating companies a consistent, dedicated flow of skilled and responsible job candidates," said Maj. Gen. Dennis D. Cavin, commander, U.S. Army Recruiting Command, at the May 2001 signing ceremony.

Under terms of the agreement, enlistees interested in gaining specific job training and qualifications receive that training while in the U.S. Army. As part of the enlistment process, recruits sign a letter of intent to work for our company when they complete their term of service. Near the end of their term of service, the soldiers have an opportunity to interview with AT&T for a specific job at a specific location.

"Like any company, AT&T is interested in hiring men and women with solid leadership training and experience," said Dick Sibbernsen, AT&T's Executive vice president of Human Resources. "This partnership provides a source of potential employees who possess these qualities. Recruiting directly from the U.S. Army provides us with strong job candidates to supplement our other recruiting efforts."
