Here’s what some more employees have to say … |
|||
|
I can truly say that the Leaders at BellSouth reward hard work and dedication. I started with BellSouth in June 2003 as a Sales Associate. In less than three years I was selected to be a Team Leader, training new associates and assisting fellow associates as needed. Presently, less than one year later, I hold the position of Acting Manager. Prior to working at BellSouth, I worked for almost 10 years in telecommunications. While working for these major companies I took advantage of the education plan and earned a Bachelors degree in Business and a Masters degree in Human Resources. I firmly believe that learning is an ongoing experience; therefore, I approach every training session with a sense of importance. Knowledge of the products that we offer is a key factor in our environment. The company offers a great benefits package, which for Sales Associates include the potential of earning a vacation that is paid in full by the company. I would advise any prospective employee to develop good communication skills. Good communication skills are vital in this business, not just with the customers, but also with your fellow workers. Any candidate for this job should also possess a willingness to learn. While all the material and information you need to be successful will be provided, in today’s every changing business environment a candidate must possess a yearning for continuous learning to be successful. In addition, a candidate will need a confident and positive attitude to be successful. A small thing like a smile in our voice really goes over big with the customers. There are unlimited opportunities for growth in BellSouth. The sky is the limit. Your success is up to you. |

Prior to working at BellSouth I had five years of customer contact experience. I worked in many different industries including banking, call center and real estate sales. I earned a diploma in Business Administration and also took advantage of on the job training provided by the companies I worked with prior to BellSouth. At BellSouth, I have had the opportunity to work as a Team Lead, Relieving Assistant Manager, Coach or Assistant Manager and Assistant Center Leader. I have been recognized and compensated for doing my job everyday. As a Sales Associate, I can recall making bonus of over $3000 and as a manager, I have received a bonus check for more than $8000. The sky is the limit at BellSouth. It is very encouraging that most of the people in senior management positions were all representatives or started with the company in a non-management position. For you to benefit from the opportunities you have to be willing to do whatever it takes, be flexible and willing to change and grow. I have been asked to train new associates and then I have been placed back on the desk to work beside these same co-workers; so you have to be humble and not to think too much of yourself. You will not come in at the top, you have to earn your way, but if you are good, you will make it. I have always been willing to learn and go with the flow. I believe that my success at BellSouth is due to my desire to always do an outstanding job regardless of the task. I also want to win. I take feedback as constructive development and seek it out. It is always important that you understand the big picture and keep the focus on the company’s core values, which is; providing top quality products to satisfied customers and making a profit. The leadership team at BellSouth contributes to my success because they seek out ways to develop each employee and show you what you need to do in order to be a success. You should only take this job if you are prepared to work hard and are not satisfied with mediocrity. You must be willing to make sacrifices and be adaptable. It is a sales position, if you do not like to sell and relate to people, you should not consider taking this job. |

Prior to working at BellSouth, I was a sales and customer service manager with Sprint PCS. I have a BA in English and double minored in Business and Economics. I will complete my MBA studies in December 2006 and the company is funding my graduate studies. I was a top Sales Associate during my time in the position and was ranked within the top 10 in my center. After being a Sales Associate for 3 months, I began as a team-lead and 8 months later I became an acting manager. I served as an acting manager for 9 months before I became a regular full time manager. A positive attitude, strong leadership and a willingness to be involved have contributed to my growth and success. For any candidate considering this opportunity, I would suggest an open mind and a dedication to excellence. |

Prior to working at BellSouth, I owned a Men's Clothing Store in the Lauderhill Mall. I went to Miami Dade Community College and did not graduate due to business opportunities. I sold the clothing store in 1997 and took a year off traveling in my native country Panama. I returned to the US in 1998 and applied for work at BellSouth. I was hired as an acquisition Sales Associate in 1998 and excelled from the beginning… it was a perfect fit for me… I came from face to face retail sales so taking calls was second nature to me, I met and surpassed all my goals and was given the opportunity to coach new associates that came after me. I then became a mentor and role model for those around me. After only a year and a half my supervisor Marta R Ramirez asked me if I would be interested in taking the management test because she believed I would be an excellent supervisor. I passed the test and was given an opportunity to replace a coach in the service department that was taking time off. I took on the challenge and have never looked back since…. All I had to do was come to work every single day…. Do my very best Demonstrate interest in my company, my peers, our success and most importantly our customers. I am very grateful to work for such an excellent company, with such great benefits and such wonderful peers. |

Prior to BellSouth, I had a diverse work experience, anywhere from a longshoreman to a mortgage Underwriter, and collections representative for a bank. I have an associate degree in business and continue to work on my bachelors degree. In order to succeed as a sales associate, all you need to do is talk to the customer, every customer that came through my line was a new opportunity and a new relationship. Having several jobs before this one helped me in dealing with our customers. I know a little bit about most businesses and the ones I did not know about were the ones where I used the customer to better help me understand. Getting this understanding about the customer's business allowed me to propose the best solution for that one particular customer. I feel this company sees people for their skills and what they can bring to the table. I am a Hispanic male and it's great to know I work for a company that is so strong into inclusion. I feel there is a fit in this company for just about anyone. My managers have been the strongest contributors of my growth in the company. The management team has always guided me in the right direction and supported me where and when I need the support. My advice to candidates considering this job is do not consider this a job, consider it a career. Devote your time to this company and this company will return the effort. |

I was working as a customer service clerk for the City of Wilton manors in Florida for about 4 years, when a friend who worked at BellSouth suggested I apply. All I had was a high school education and a willingness to work hard. I had 12 college credits at BCC when I was hired at 22, and when I was about 32, I decided to go back to college. I got a 4-year degree at Nova Southeastern University in 5 years while working full time at BellSouth. BellSouth paid for the entire degree. I learned how to deal with all types of customers and employees, which has come in handy when I volunteer at the Broward County Humane Society as an adoption counselor on Saturdays. My experience at BellSouth has given me confidence in myself. I was a shy, introverted kid when I was hired and now I feel like I could work anywhere and add value. A willingness to work hard and establishing a reputation for dependability contributed to my success. I enjoy learning new things and helping my co-workers and employees. Once you are sure that this is the job you want to do, give it everything you have. Make sure you enjoy change because it is happening every day with BellSouth. That is one of the best things I can say about working with customers at BellSouth, it is never boring. |

Before working for BellSouth I worked as Trainer for Cingular wireless, and attained a degree in Criminal Justice from Jackson State University. As a Sales Associate I had a great Coach, Vickie Bowlin, who allowed me to grow by providing me with sales tips and directing from day 1 to use all the systems and not be afraid. I was promoted within 6 months because I had a supervisor who saw my potential and allowed me to grow while providing constant guidance. I attribute my success to the support of the upper management team as well as my peers. As a group there is always support and knowledge to help in the growth process. My advice to candidates considering this job is to do an outstanding job at their present job, let your manager know that you are interested in a career with BellSouth instead of just a job and prove that you are an asset to your office as well as the company. |

My previous experience had absolutely nothing to do with the communications industry except that I was an excellent customer. At an early age, I began working in international trade and during a long career I did almost everything in the field. I began as the office gofer at the age of 16 and thirteen years later, I established my own shipping business and chartered vessels to move cargo to and from South America. I was very successful for many years but by 1999 the industry changed and I was forced to close my business. After so many years working in a very specialized field, I had no idea where to go and what to do so that I could support my two children. I found a BellSouth ad and they offered an excellent starting salary and benefits package. The hiring process was totally different because I was use to interviewing and getting an immediate response. The first day of work was nerve racking. I was so worried that I wouldn’t be able to do the job and had so many doubts about my ability to learn everything. I walked into the training room with a very diversified group. We were all from different backgrounds and we all had different stories to tell but we had one thing in common, we wanted the job and we wanted to be successful. Before we knew it, that same diversified group that had absolutely nothing in common became one team and we still remain very close. I was probably the most determined to make it so I stayed, I practiced on my family, I studied and along with the gift of selling, I made it to Pinnacle Club that year and I was in the top 2% in the region. My success as a sales associate came from excellent coaching; personal determination, enjoying my job and making each customer feel as if they have a friend at BellSouth. Within a short period of time, I was given the opportunity to work as a team lead; I worked on special projects and coached new employees. On February 14th 2005, I was promoted to Coach in the Miami1 Retail Markets under Center Leader Hector Perez and coached three different teams in one year. Each team has made me a better Coach and my goal is to make sure that each of my Sales Associate reaches his or her career goal….This huge company is one big family, we all truly care about each other and I can’t imagine working anywhere else. |

Prior to coming to BellSouth I was employed with Marriott Hotels in Sales, Room Service and reservations, as well as working in law firm as a reception. I was also enrolled in college pursuing my Bachelor of Arts degree in Business with a minor in Public Relations. When I got hired at BellSouth I really did not have great expectations as it relates to advancing in the company… However as a Sales Associate I did extremely well exceeding my objectives/targets… learning my job and enjoying my customers. Customer service and sales came naturally to me. My supervisor asked me my first year where did I see my self with BellSouth in the next 5 years. I answered honestly… advised her that I never thought about it. My coach began giving me more growth opportunities to be involved with… Job Shadowing, QCS Training (Quality Control), RAM (Relieving Acting Manager), Error Correction Champion, Pager Champion, Team Lead with Fast Start/Incubation. Shortly afterwards I was in an Acting Title then promoted as a Coach. There are several things that have contributed to my growth and success with BellSouth. First of all, my coach believed that I was worth the time to invest in. BellSouth has also awarded me with opportunities to share the knowledge that I have, mold and guide the associates who have the courage and the determination to advance within the company and motivate all employees and co-workers to always reach for the stars. BellSouth has instilled in me pride and dedication to exceed all obstacles and to look beyond just having a job but a career. The advice that I would give candidates seeking a career at BellSouth is to learn everything that you can to do your job… to become the best that you can be in your current position and always strive to be the best and not put limitations on what you can and not do. Always be positive and open minded… change is always happening at BellSouth so grasp change as a positive opportunity and always give back to your co-workers. |

Prior to BellSouth I was a manager at a fast food restaurant. I was manager for 2 years. My education was a B.A. 4 year degree from ULM in Monroe La. As a sales associate, I was able to exceed monthly objectives and had the privilege of offering our wonderful products and services to our customers. Success as a sales associate include working in different capacities such as RAM (relieving assistant manager), Team Lead (2yrs), introducing training material to my peers and working on the error team to clear errors. All of these different tasks led me to grow at BellSouth. I originally started in Monroe La. I moved to Baton Rouge, La during transformation. My coaches and managers provided the tools necessary for me to grow. I have been also able to obtain my MBA while working at BellSouth because of the educational assistance program we provide to employees. I would advise any candidate considering this position to reach for the stars. BellSouth is a great place to work. A dedicated employee who continues to have good attendance and perform satisfactorily will have ample opportunity for growth and success with the company. |

I moved from New York to Florida six years ago and my cousin who retired from New York Telephone mentioned that I should apply to BellSouth Telecommunications. She said that BellSouth is a great company to work for with great benefits, they have an opportunity for advancement, and excellent pay. As a New York native I had the same type of work background. I applied for a job with BellSouth 3 years ago. I was very excited to hear that I got the position as a sales associate. I came to work everyday with the emphasis on performing my duties to the best of my abilities. I learned the systems and did my job very well and always exceeded in my sales. Two years later I became a team lead and then seven months later I became acting coach. I am very happy to be employed with BellSouth and I would recommend this job to anyone that loves helping people and making a difference. |

Prior to BellSouth I worked 9 years for a mortgage company and 1 year with Exxon/Mobile. I came out of training very concerned I would not be able to do the job, but in 4 ½ years as a Sales Associate I went to Pinnacle 5 times. I was promoted to trainer for 8 months, then to team manager. My motto is you can do anything you want to, you just have to work hard and keep focused on the task at hand. |

Before I worked at BellSouth I worked for a company called InaCom as a service associate. Becoming a sales associate at BellSouth gave me the opportunity to advance my career growth. I maintained a high energetic attitude and was 1 of the top sellers in Conyers. I was a sales associate for about 5 months and then became a team lead. I was a team lead for about 4 months and was promoted to a RAM. After working as a RAM for 6 months I was promoted to a Coach position. I contribute a lot of my growth to obtaining a lot of knowledge from my fellow peers. The most important thing is that you have to love what you do on your job. You have to treat people the way you want to be treated. The main thing I guess about me is I am always open for ways to excel and have fun at the same time. |

Prior to joining the BellSouth team, I completed two years of college and worked for a wall covering distributor for 15 years in customer service and clerical roles. The role of sales associate offered many opportunities to provide my customers with growth for their businesses, which allowed me to be a part of the top 10% of the sales associates in our region. I was promoted to a Team Manager position within the first 18 months of my career with BellSouth. After two years and six months in that role, I was promoted to a Leadership Coach and fulfilled that role for a year. I have now been given another great opportunity to fulfill the role as Center Director of a fantastic branch in Small Business. Determination and commitment to always have the best interests of my customers and teams in the different capacities in which I had the pleasure to work, was a huge impact to my success. My advice for candidates considering this job: Have a vested interest in the success of our company and your career. Remember attitude is everything, and a positive attitude is a true reflection of your character. |

I came to BellSouth as a Sales Associate, shortly after graduating from college. I had limited job experience and no experience in sales or a Call Center. I accepted the job as a challenge and was very successful with learning the job and what it entailed. I was promoted to a Team Manager within the first year of my career as a Sales Associate. I remained a Team Manager for 3 years, and then was given an opportunity to be a Sales Associate Trainer. After a year of training, I was promoted to my current position of Geo Leadership Coach. In this position I am responsible for ensuring that the Summit2 Concepts are incorporated and being implemented to drive results in each branch. What has contributed to my success and growth in BellSouth is having the right Leadership, Training, Coaching Development and Opportunity to do an effective job in any role. If you are a candidate considering this job, you must first, make a commitment to represent BellSouth's Values and Standards in all that you do. Be professional, have good Oral/Written Communication Skills and enjoy servicing customers by showing them how to grow their businesses. |

I managed a Physicians office for 9 years prior to beginning my career with BellSouth. My career with BellSouth started on 7/8/02. I completed initial training and went on the desk on 10/01/02 I was in the top 3 sales associates on my team. I won so many prizes for my achievements with sales. The unlimited income that you could earn for just achieving your sales motivated me. I challenged myself everyday to go above and beyond to help satisfy all of my customers by making sure their problems were solved and they had everything they needed on their line. I was given the opportunity to become a team leader in March 2003 and then was promoted to a Coach in November 2004. I have had many opportunities at BellSouth to strengthen my Coaching skills. I recently was a member of the Universal Sales Associate training team. It gave me the opportunity to travel throughout the BellSouth region and meet other employees. My manager Kelly Borders took a personal interest in me when I became a member of her team in 10/02. She helped develop and coach me so that I was able to quickly move into my Management positions. BellSouth gives you lots of training so that you can be successful in whatever position you are in. If you are motivated, dedicated, enjoy working with customers and like to have the opportunity to make LOTS of sales bonus then working as a BellSouth Sales Associate is the job for you. If you offer on EVERY call then meeting the sales objective is a piece of cake. This is the greatest Company I have ever worked for. |

I came to BellSouth with almost 2 years under my belt from Cingular Wireless (retail sales and customer service) and over a year with AT&T Wireless (Collections and customer service). At 8 months of being a Sales Associate with BellSouth, I was given the opportunity of being taken off the phone to act as Relieving Assistant Manager over a Fast Start training team and then for the unit for an additional 2 months after. About 6 months later I was promoted to Team Lead, and about 2 months later to Acting Assistant Manager as an Incubation Coach. I was just given a permanent Assistant Manager position a couple of months ago (I hit 3 years of service on Jan. 12th). Factors that contributed to my success include determination, self motivation and compassion for what I do. When I was released from my own initial training, I learned everything on a much faster pace than most because of my nature, and I already had a huge amount of previous experience and information under my belt. So I always took advantage of that with not only my own customer contacts, but I also took every moment to assist my team mates with any questions and problems they would have should I have the information readily available. I always took the initiative to help motivate my team mates and sent emails daily on each of my team mates regarding their daily and monthly standings/rankings and congratulated top 10 performers. Most of all, I always make it fun for everyone; because you're here for the most part of your days, why make it miserable? |
